Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are a great way to start your career in the construction industry. If you choose the right apprenticeship you will be exposed to fantastic on the job training. While doing this you should be able to complete your qualifications and get paid at the same time. That’s not a bad thing is it?
Apprentices work towards their NVQs or National Vocational Qualification to give it its full name. This is no different to what students on the other courses do be it distance learning or an intensive course.
The majority of apprenticeships take place over 1 year to two years. Although at CourseSpring we have heard of one hard worker who was at it for nearly 5 years!
People working in technical jobs can benefit greatly from apprenticeships as it gives them a chance to hone their practical skills using everything they have learnt so far. An apprentice usually focused on more practical elements of their course for example fixing and removing washers if they are a plumber apprentice. You should also get the chance to work alongside an experienced tradesman which would be a great experience
To become an apprentice you don’t need any formal qualifications however it does help if you have good GCSEs between Grades A to C. Competition for places can be really tough as most apprenticeships are oversubscribed. Also if you are over 25 it may be harder to get an apprenticeship.
The majority of CourseSpring users choose to sign up for courses rather than apprenticeships due to the limited places available.
